Brighton Additions & Alterations The gloomy and fractured floor plan of this two-storey brick residence required a simple but significant reorganisation to enable a large open plan living zone. This made best use of the connection to the back yard and captured the available northern light. Rather than attempting a further gesture towards the existing faux-Victorian forms and detailing of the existing house, the new rooms form a modern pavilion at the rear that is better suited to contemporary ways of living. Combining two existing but awkward formal living rooms at the front of the house into a single larger room, also made best use of the existing layout.
