Brighton Additions & Alterations

architecture matters p/l

Brighton Additions & Alterations A gloomy and fractured floor plan of this two-storey brick residence required a simple but significant reorganisation to enable a large open plan living zone to be created and which made best use of the connection to the back yard and captured the available northern light. Rather than attempting a further gesture towards the existing faux-Victorian forms and detailing of the existing house, the new rooms form a modern pavilion at the rear that is better suited to contemporary ways of living. Combining two existing but awkward formal living rooms into a single larger room also made best use of the existing layout.
