Elsternwick Additions & Alterations The owners of this substantial secondary addition to and ground remodelling of a 1930's brick home had a strong directive that any additions had to be a dynamic enhancement of the existing building. The resultant roof forms of the second storey provides this, effectively inverting the existing hip roof with an aluminium clad raking eave that conceals a new low-profile hip roof of its own. The active input of the interior decorator client saw a rich and warm colour palate that incorporated extensive use of plywood lining whilst the new stairwell provides a dramatic double-height space and void that brings light and ventilation to the previously enclosed ground floor hallway.
